Rebecca Campbell - The Highwayman (2006)

This piece is more current than most of my choices, but I cannot ignore great artwork like this one. I first was introduced to her work in an advertisement in Art in America magazine. Go find a high resolution copy of this and enjoy!

Edward Hopper - Nighthawks (1942)

This is so well done. It's a classic! Taking a snapshot of a simple moment in time. I'm also attaching one of the best tributes I've seen from the end of an episode of That 70's Show

William-Adolphe Bouguereau - The Virgin, Jesus & Saint John the Baptist (1875)

This piece is great... so much detailing. It's got such great symbolism.

Vincent Van Gogh - Starry Night (1889)

I have always loved this piece. I can't help but stare and let myself be drawn into it. I don't see how anyone could not like it.

Arnold Bocklin - Villa by the Sea (1878)

I chose this image to start with because I have just recently found this artist's work. Arnold Bocklin's work is amazing, there will be a few more of his works on the list to come.
